Bokashi power!

echinacea flower

I absolutely love my echinacea plants, the flowers are stunning and last for ages, changing and opening more and more each day.
I grew this plant from seed in 2007 and it has been growing in soil enriched with Bokashi compost for the past year.
Bokashi is, in my opinion, the perfect way to re-use food waste rather than send it to landfill. Plus my plants love it!

I tried to grow echnicheas this year but the slugs ate all the seedlings! So next year, in order to continue growing organically, I have to choose flowers and veg that slugs loathe.

thank you for the feedback, I am going to grow some different colours next year, I love these plants so much!

quail I feel your pain, I have had so many plants eaten this year, I think it's the wet weather! I have also resolved to grow plants that slugs hate as I don't use pellets. One thing I did do with my echinacea is cut the bottom out of a large plastic cup and put it around the plant when it was small, like a collar. It really does work and protects the plants really well :)
