It's always lovely to see the wide variety of crafts added to our feed each month, the image above shows a small selection of the creative images tagged. Over the past twelve months the "Crafting is my Therapy" hashtag has grown in popularity. We now have a number of regular contributors and it has developed into a thriving, supportive and welcoming community.

What is the theme of the hashtag?

Art and creativity have an important role to play in improving our health and well-being. Therapeutic effects include: relaxation; a way to express yourself; it can lower blood pressure; boost the immune system and reduce stress. What's not to love?

My craft of choice is sewing and I have been making handsewn pieces for many years. It relaxes me and makes me happy. Yet, I often don't make the time to do much sewing. I prioritise housework, paperwork, food shopping and zoning out in front of the television over my creative life. I felt disheartened and became disinterested in my own making. My crafting mojo had deserted me...

I made a decision at the start of 2016 to change that.

I'm determined to make more time in my life for crafting and creativity.

I would also love to encourage others to make time to be creative. From this wish, the “Crafting is my Therapy” monthly hashtag was born. I love seeing other people’s creations. So if you sew, knit, crochet, paint, work with ceramics…please join in and share your work.

The focus of this hashtag is crafting for pleasure, basically taking some ‘me-time’ to unwind in our busy lives.

It doesn’t have to be a finished project, I love seeing work in progress, planning posts or tutorials too.
